Venue for the Melbourne hybrid meetings – Arcadia Hotel, South Yarra. More venue details below in the Activities/Items section. In-person networking from 5.15 pm to 6 pm with finger food, provided you register beforehand.

NOTE: In-person 5.15 pm - 9 pm, and broadcast over the web from 6 - 8 pm AEST. Informal discussion with the guest speaker(s) takes place over dinner from 8.15 pm, along with further networking amongst the members and guests.

Topic: “A trading practitioner’s overview of the 2025/26 Financial Year”


Jim gave a presentation in February 2026 on his approach to trading and investing, sharing some of his trading results for the 2025/26 financial year to date. In this session, Jim returns to present an overview for the whole of the last financial year, from his trading perspective. He will share his overall trading results and discuss which markets and strategies performed well and which fell below expectations. Jim will also touch on several aspects of technical and financial analysis that proved relevant to his trading experience and may be of more general interest.


About Jim Haralambidis

Jim Haralambidis started his career in science and has a PhD from the University of Melbourne. Jim was involved in biomedical scientific research at the Howard Florey Institute for about fifteen years.
Jim left the academic world in 1996 to set up his own IT business, which he ran for about 20 years. On the way, he obtained a Master of Applied Finance degree from the University of Melbourne, as well as a Graduate Diploma in Computing from RMIT. Jim’s business was sold to a listed company in 2015.
Since then, Jim has been busy managing his own investments, hence his interest in Technical Analysis. He is the current National President of the ATAA.

Joanne Stuhmcke - Independent Trader and Investor

Topic: “Weekly RSI for ETF Investing”

Join Joanne for a review and a practical demonstration of a weekly RSI system that has proven beneficial for timing entries into ETFs. The system is based on simple technical analysis tools using weekly charts. Joanne will discuss the background of the system, explain the technical indicators used as well as explore the rules of the system. The session will also include case studies of 10 ETF historical trades as well how using a market timing model might enhance the system.

About Joanne Stuhmcke  


Joanne is a private trader and investor, as well as a trading and investing educator for the not-for-profit sector. She has consulted in the financial services industry for over 15 years and has delivered courses, workshops, presentations, coaching and web-based education material on a range of trading and investment topics. She has recently retired early as a result of successful managing portfolios of equities and property. Prior to retirement she worked in the SMSF administration space working with clients to help them get the most out of their SMSF investment strategies. Joanne actively trades and invests a number of portfolios using a combination of simple fundamental and technical principles. Her current retirement ‘project’ is learning to day trade futures.
