He will explain the basic principles behind Ichimoku Cloud charts and how they can help identify market trends, momentum, and potential support and resistance levels. Tony will consider how the technique may be applied to practical trading decisions. He will also share his perspective as a private investor on the book’s usefulness for Australian traders.
About Tony Hambling
Tony was introduced to the Share Market following the Telstra IPO in 1997. Like many, he then became interested in the ASX and its workings and later extended this interest into learning Technical Analysis, which continues to this day.
6.45 pm to 8.00 pm – GUEST SPEAKER (In-person):
Gary Murphy - Private Trader
Topic: “The importance of Rules and Discipline in Trading”
• The importance of having rules and sticking to them! We all have some idea of what we want to achieve but most of us do not make a workable and systematic plan and stick to it.
• My personal Share Trading experience
• My discipline strategy based purely on Technical Indicators.
• Using Simple Moving Averages, Trix and Awesome Oscillator
• Understanding how your mind plays havoc on your trading – the 90/10 Rule.
About Gary Murphy
Gary started life as a tradesman, but was always interested in the Stock Market and World Economies. He started an Engineering business in Swan Hill. Later, he ventured into Organic Farming and developed a Health Food manufacturing business exporting organic produce to 14 countries around the world as well as supplying major health food brands in Australia.
He bought his first bundle of shares in 2000. He sold his two remaining businesses in 2010 and retired to Gisborne and has since moved to Bendigo in 2023. In 2012 he did a course on Options and although he lost money, he still believed in Options.
Since then, he has attended numerous training seminars and concentrated on learning the idiosyncrasies of trading shares, developing his own strategies and strict set of rules and making trading profitable.
