Agenda:
8:30 – 9:00: Meet and greet with tea & coffee
9:00 - 9:45: A review of the world markets and ASX sectors
9:45 - 11:45: Chart structure as defined by Investopedia by Andrew Hume
In technical analysis, chart structure means ‘the way price action is arranged over time: its direction, swing points, support and resistance levels, ranges, and recurring patterns’.
A practical way to read structure is to identify whether price is trending or consolidating. A clear uptrend is marked by higher highs and higher lows, as noted in the setup for a double top; a horizontal channel instead connects repeated pivot highs and pivot lows, framing price between resistance and support during a sideways range.
Selected stock charts will be used to show examples of chart structures.
Andrew is a member of the Brisbane chapter.
